Cottageville is a town in Colleton County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 762 at the 2010 census. The former mayor of Cottageville, Bert Reeves, was shot and killed by police officer Randall Price in May 2011. The town was incorporated in 1937 because residents in the area desired a post office. It is located along U.S. Route 17 Alt. Walterboro, the county seat, is 11 miles (18 km) to the west, and Summerville is 20 miles (32 km) away to the east. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.4 square miles (8.8 km²), all land. It has a public library, a branch of the Colton County Library System. It was the site of the World Series of Poker in the 1990s and early 2000s. It also hosted the South Carolina Open House in the late 1990s. Cottagevillians are known for their love of golf and country music. The Cottage Villagers are known as the "Cottagevillers" because of their love for the sport. They are also known as "The Villagers" because they love the country music and country-western music. They also love to play the guitar and have a band called "The CottageVillers" The town's motto is "The Village of the Hills" which means "The Home of The Hills". It is also the name of the town's public library.

It has a population of about 2,000. It is located on the South Carolina Turnpike, one of the busiest roads in the state. It was built in the 19th century as part of the turn-of-the-20th century railroads. It also has a post office, which was established in the 18th century, and is located in the town's historic center. The community is home to a public school, which has been closed for more than a decade. The library has a branch in Summerville, which is located 20 miles to the north, and a public park in Walterboro. The city's population is about 1,200, according to the U.N. Census Bureau. The area has an estimated population of 2,200. It had a population loss of 1,100 in the 2010 Census. It's located on U. S. Route17 Alt. and is one of three towns on the Turnpikes. The other two towns are Walterboro and Walterboro County, South Carolina.

History
Cottageville was incorporated in 1937 because residents in the area desired a post office. On May 16, 2011, former mayor Bert Reeves was shot and killed by Cottageville Police Officer Randall Price. Reeves' estate was awarded $97.5 million by a jury in a lawsuit against the city for negligence. While in office, Reeves reduced the number of police officers in the Cottagevile police department from six to three. He also lowered the department's reliance on speed ticket revenue. Reeves was succeeded by his son-in-law, David Reeves, who served as mayor from 2007 to 2011. He died in a car accident in 2012. He is survived by his wife and two children. He was buried in a private funeral in Cottagevillle. He leaves behind a wife and three children. The town is now home to a Christian church. It was founded in 1937 by a group of residents who wanted to establish a postoffice. The church was later moved to a new location, which was built in the 1970s. It is now located in a suburb of Asheville, North Carolina, near the town's airport. It has a population of about 2,000 people and is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city is located on the North Carolina-Shelby County line, which is about 30 miles north of the state capital, Asheville, and about 20 miles south of the city of Greensboro.
